Amberpaw sat crouched low to the ground, a small shrub hiding her body from her prey. She had been sitting there for what seemed like forever, waiting for that rabbit to get farther away from its den. Her prey knew something was there, but its hunger pushed reason from its mind. The apprentice silently swiped her tongue over her mussel as the rabbit moved farther away from its safety. Here I come... She thought, as the rabbit moved another fox length away from its den.
Amberpaw shot out from her hiding place, claws outstretched. The rabbit shot in the opposite direction of its den. It wasn't about to give up without a fight. It tried to loose the apprentice in the dense undergrowth of the oaks, but Amberpaw knew better. She had grown up in these oaks, she knew every turn.
Finally, Amberpaw took a mighty leap and tackled the rabbit. It let out a small, muffled cry before the apprentice finished it off. That is probably the best kill ever![/b] She thought, extremely pleased with her catch. She looked around for Sapphirestar, almost forgetting that she was watching. The apprentice shook her head and scraped some leaves over her rabbit. I can worry about that later...[/b] She thought, weaving through the oaks once more. So far she had caught that rabbit and a vole. Not much, but the apprentice was happy with it none the less.

Sapphirestar purred silently as Amberpaw made her second catch. She watched silently as the apprentice buried her kill and moved on. The flame-colored she-cat got up and moved along the high branch she had been perched on with astounding agility and leaped onto a level branch of another tree, hardly making the branch tremble or the leaves rustle. The thick foliage concealed her pelt completely, and the leader couldn't be seen or guessed from below. Sapphirestar moved like a shadow. Soundlessly, she crept across the branches, going from great tree to great tree, from high branch to high branch with an incredible balance, following the small dark shape that was advancing under her.

Suddenly, the black and white apprentice froze. A plump mouse scurried out from under the nearby shrub, looking around for something to eat. Its leaf-bare mouse.. She thought, moving more down wind. The only thing your going to find is my claws on your throat.
Amberpaw slowly advanced forward, remembering to keep her pawsteps light. She slowly crept forward and pounced before the mouse could let out a cry. The apprentice looked around, satisfied that the mouse hadn't desturbed any other prey. She quickly burried it and crept towards the ShadowClan boarder. My scent probably won't even be noticed over there... She thought, a mischievious smile creeping to her face.

Sapphirestar nodded approvingly and lifted a paw to follow when she stopped dead mid-step. Her sensitive ears had picked up an unfamiliar noise, so distant it seemed like no more than a gust of wind in the leaves, far far away; but her special training made her think otherwise. Invisible through the foliage, the she-cat turned around and bounded away through the trees, hardly making more sound than the breeze herself. In a couple of heartbeats, she was far away, leaping with great power from branch to branch, as easily as if she was on solid ground. Sapphirestar was heading for the old Thunderpath. TO:: A suspicious journey ((Sorry for abandoning Amberpaw ))

Amberpaw stalked around the ShadowClan boarders, her paw steps light on the ground. She paced around from tree to tree, her ears strained for even the slightest noise. Her claws were itching to catch something else, although the forest was silent. I would like a squirrel[/i] She thought, licking her lips at the thought of it. But I doubt I'll see one till New Leaf.... She sighed reluctantly.
Some while later, the apprentice sat down under the nearest oak, her mind joyed and reluctant at the same time. I'm probably not going to find anything else... Amberpaw thought, taking one last look around the forest floor. She sighed and padded over to her burried catches, a proud smile on her face. The apprentice managed to grab all three of her catches, stuggling to keep hold of the recent mouse. Finally, after a lot of growling, Amberpaw managed to get hold of everything and drag it back to camp, hoping that her mentor would be pleased.
