You could be strong and silent? Ashkit's sapphire eyes remained fixed on Snakepaw as he continued, but in his mind the kit was doubtful. How would anyone know how you feel if you were silent? You would just be blindly following orders... that could be good, but it had the potential to be bad as well. I don't think silence is the way to go. Although silence was preferable sometimes, the grey kit couldn't imagine himself taking a vow of silence like that.
"Pardon me?" Ashkit tilted his head slightly in confusion. He turned to look over his shoulder, feeling kind of paranoid now. Nope... nothing. He thought, scanning through the forest floor and the tree branches. Besides, if someone had been trying to sneak up on them, he would have heard it. You don't become an expert at sneaking out of camp without obtaining a few skills, after all.
"I didn't say anything..." He replied warily, turning his gaze back to the black apprentice. Maybe he heard something I didn't. Though that idea seemed very unlikely, Ash didn't see the harm in asking. "Did you hear anything?"

Snakepaw gazed at a raven for a few heartbeats as it hopped along on a high branch and occasionally stopped to stare at him - or so he thought. He narrowed his eyes, then shook the thought out of his head. "Actions, not words," Snakepaw declared. "When posterity will look up to the past, they will remember your actions only, not your words." And, joining words to action, he pushed off with his back legs and sweeped a paw at the bird, which flew away with an outraged squawk. The black apprentice sat back down as if nothing had ever happened, his ice-blue eyes fixed on Ashkit's eerie gaze, the tip of his tail curling and un-curling.
Don't let go...
Snakepaw watched something move from the corner of his eye, still keeping his gaze unmoving. Why is that bird staring at me? he was asking himself.

Ashkit thought about this for a moment before shaking his head. "I don't think so," He replied, watching Snakepaw swat at a bird. "I remember things cats have said in the past, along with their actions. And I notice how my mother never talked about my father, which is a form of talking." His sapphire eyes locked with Snake's as the black apprentice sat back down, wondering what he was thinking. The apprentice had such an... out-of-the-box way of thinking. It made the small, grey kit curious at times. How did he come up with such ideas and theories? Most of them, he had to admit, were a tad morbid. Why would that be?, He thought, keeping his gaze locked in Snakepaw's.
[Crappy post, I know. I have no muse for Ash right now.]
