Patrol

[Amberpaw]

"Its the fact that they're smell is making me gag!," Amberpaw commented, her amber eyes full of disgust. The apprentice padded along the ShadowClan border with the patrol, her pelt tingling with anticipation. "So what are we going to do?," She asked, trying to hold back her excitment. "Are we going to continue the patrol or go practice some training?!"

[Flamestar]

"Im not sure" she commented. "Im okay with anything" Willowbreeze finished as dhe licked her fur.

[Sapphirestar]

Sapphirestar let out a mrrow of amusement and padded on, edging towards the old fox den. "Patience, wait for your poor old leader" she mewed in a mocked stern tone. She was actually one of the youngest leaders, only aproaching her nineteenth moon, and her muscles were still strong and sleek with the energetic liveliness of the young cats. Her elder days were still very far away... and as long as the dragon fire still burned in her heart, it seemed that she would never age.
The patrol arrived at the old fox den, and then pushed on towards the camp. Suddenly Sapphirestar felt her blood turn to ice.
"Stop" she flicked her tail in front of Amberpaw, stopping her in mid-track, and carefully approached a bush from witch the point of a Twoleg stick could hadly be seen through the thick foliage.

[Amberpaw]

Amberpaw stopped abruptly as Sapphirestar's tail shot out in front of her. Her amber eyes grew curious as she stared at the object that was sticking out from the bush. That must be why we stopped... She thought, looking around once more. Nothing else, but the object was different. "What is it?," She whispered, her claws unsheathing.

[Sapphirestar]

"Fox trap" the flame-colored she-cat explained. "Some cats have been injured, or even killed, by this thing. Now, I'll teach you how to disactivate one" Sapphirestar rummaged in a nearby bush and emerged with a long branch. She approached the brambles in which (sp?) the trap layed ready and brushed the branches and leaves away to reveal a dark stick stuck in the earth, from which dangled a leather strap, tied in a sliding not in the end to form a deadly loop. If any cat got stuck there, he could get strangled.
"Come here" Sapphirestar mumbled around the stick to the apprentice.

[Amberpaw]

Amberpaw did as she was told and slowly padded forward beside her mentor. The apprentice's eyes grew wide and curious as the trap now came into a more detailed view. "I've heard about these before!," She exclaimed, turning back to Sapphirestar. "The elders used to tell us stories about them...." She looked back to the trap with fear and curiousity. "They made them sound so scary...but they don't look like it."

[Flamestar]

Willowbreeze sat as she watched them, her leader and an apprentice. Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted a mouse nibbling and the grass. Slowly, she got up and silently stacked. Shhe quickly pouced and killed it with a swift bite in the neck. "May I eat it" Willowbreeze asked her leader politely, dropping the prey on the ground.

[Sapphirestar]

"Don't be fooled, these things are deadly" Sapphirestar replied around the stick. She ignored Willowbreeze's question. "Now, watch carefully" the flame-colored she-cat stuck the end of the branch she was holding into the loop of the trap, jerked her head up suddenly, and the loop tightened tautly around the branch. Sapphirestar let go of it and stood up, flicking her tail from side to side approvingly. "This is the easiest and quickest way to disactivate a trap. The other way is to dig out the stick, but it takes more time, and you could easily get a claw ripped"[/u] Sapphirestar straitened herself. "How about some hunting?" she asked Amberpaw.

Amberpaw's eyes widened as she watched the twig snapin two. That could have been my neck! She thought with a shudder. She looked up at Sapphirestar and nodded. "Using a twig seems easier anyways," She replied, looking back to the trap. The apprentice's amber eyes lit up at the mention of hunting. "Can we?!," She squealed, her paws itching to catch a warm mouse or vole.

[Sapphirestar]

Sapphirestar nodded, her sapphire eyes smiling. "You have all the clearing to hunt" she declared, motioning with her tail. "I'll be watching you. Let's see how much you have learned" the flame-colored she-cat sat down and gazed at the apprentice, rapping her tail around her paws.

[Amberpaw]

Amberpaw's eyes widened in surprize. I disagreeestment! She thought. This was her big chance! To prove that she was ready to be a warrior! The apprentice opened her mouth to ask questions, but quickly thought otherwise. Its better if I don't...[/b] She thought, nodding to her mentor instead. I need to consentrate right now[/b]

"I'll do my best!," Amberpaw meowed, dipping her head respectfully to Sapphirestar. She looked out towards the WindClan boarder. That way... She thought, heading off towards the boarder.

[hehe, let's see if Amberpaw shall be a paw for any longer. She still needs battle training!]

Saphirestarwaited for the excited apprentice to disappear in the bushes and her pawsteps to disappear in the distance. "You can head back to camp, Willowbreeze" Sapphirestar dismissed the warrior and trotted into the bushes, following at a bouncy but steady gait Amberpaw's scent trail.

Willowbreeze looked at the two thunderclanners go away. They had ignored her probably the whole conversation. She looked at her prey and decided it won't do harm to eat it. Se bent dow and ate in half-hearted bites.
