Hunting

[Amberpaw]

Amberpaw stalked into the oak forest, her paws lightly touching the ground. The black and white apprentice opened her mouth to scent the air, one mouse nearby. Her light blue eyes looked around the forest floor, trying to pin point where the scent was comming from. Then Amberpaw noticed the lump of brown fur by the tree trunk.

Amberpaw swiped her tounge over her mussle and began to stalk forward, keeping her paws light and silent as she moved forward. Then Amberpaw shot forward with increadible speed and caught the mouse in her jaws. The mouse barely had enough time to look at the apprentice before Amberpaw bit down on it, ending its life.


Amberpaw looked back toward the direction of camp, hoping to see Bellpaw appear soon. A light breeze came and ruffled Amberpaw's fur, bringing Bellpaw's scent along with it. She should be here soon,[/i] Amberpaw thought, sitting down. The black and white apprentice began grooming her fur, it was the sun high so she had no itentions on rushing anything.

Bellpaw was walking slowly with her head down then lifted her head up and opened her mouth I smell Amberpaw and it seems she found a mouse. she thought Amberpaw the best hunter in ThunderClan. she purred.

Bellpaw ran forward "Amberpaw!"

Amberpaw turned around and held her tail up to her mussle. "Shhh!," She whispered. "Or you'll scare all of the prey away from her to the Island!" The black and white apprentice opened her mouth again and drank in the scents around her. A stale fox scent, the recent mouse she had killed, a pigeon up above her in a tree, and the smell of oaks.[/i] Those were the only things that were around, or that have been through here. She let out a long sigh. Looks like there isn't going to be anything else for a while.[/b]


Amberpaw turned her head towards Bellpaw again and smiled. "There isn't anything around here right now," She meowed in a normal voice. The black and white apprentice tilted her head to one side. "Did you want to look for those...merigold things you were talking about?" Amberpaw really didn't know what they were, but she remembered Bellpaw saying that her stock was low.

"That would be great!" she smiled. "They are a bright yellow almost gold and very puffy." she looked at Amberpaw to see if she understood.

"No way!," Amberpaw meowed as soon as Bellpaw had finished. The apprentice jumped to her paws and padded past Bellpaw. "I saw something like that while I was chasing that mouse! Come on!" She began back tracking through the trees, keeping her mouth open just incase any prey were around.

Amberpaw paused at the base of a tree and sighed. I could have sworn they were here...[/i] Amberpaw thought, looking around the base of the tree. She was just about to turn around and head back when a glimps of gold caught her eye. The apprentice gave a purr of joy and padded over to it. "Hey Bellpaw!," She meowed loudly. "I think I found it!"

Bellpaw was looking by a tree trunk and heard Amberpaw. She walked over there and saw the edge of Amberpaws pure black and white fur. She walked up and saw what she was looking at "Great Job!!" she purred.

She opened her mouth to yawn and suddenly smelt a mouse. "I smell mouse!" she silenced herself knowing the mouse could hear her.

Amberpaw picked up her head slowly as Bellpaw froze. The black and white apprentice parted her jaws and immediatly caught scent of what Bellpaw had smelled. She turned her head to Bellpaw and nodded to her, signaling her to go for it. She caught scent of it first,[/i] Amberpaw thought, smiling. Therefore its her catch.

Bellpaw wasnt sure what to do her body frozen, I must be silent and swift. she thought. She flatened herself aginst the damp green grass and started silently moving twored the mouse. Then she pounced and killed it with her claws. "I did it!" she purred out of happiness.

Amberpaw gave a mew of delight. "Thats great!," She meowed, giving her a huge grin. "It was an awesome catch! Seriously! I couldn't have done any better!" The black and white apprentice gave her pelt another few swift licks. She was feeling rather odd about the constant cleaning of her pelt, but that didn't stop her. Then she shook her head sadly. Duh! Its the moisture in the air!,[/i] Amberpaw thought, giving her glossy pelt a few more licks. Thats why I've been feeling so sticky![/i]

Thank you! she said. Should we bury it and look for more marigold or go back to camp and bring them? she also asked. She licked her front paw and rubed her ear.

[Amberpaw]

Amberpaw shrugged. "We can always come back for them," She meowed, looking up at the sky. "We have a while before it becomes dark." The black and white apprentice looked back at the tree and padded forward. "Come on!"

Bellpaw started padding after Amberpaw that turned into a run. Her silver fur blowing in the wind. Wait up! She purred.

Amberpaw sat down and looked up at the sky, her amber eyes filled with curiousity. "What's it like?," She meowed to Bellpaw, not taking her eyes off the sky. "I mean to talk to StarClan, to receive messages." The black and white she-cat turned back to the grey appentice and smiled, tilting her head to one side.

Bellpaw flinched when she heard Amberpaw's question Well I never really thought about it...[/i] "Well it's different...... and you always have to think hard about what their tring to tell you," she said. It was hard to tell Amberpaw her feelings about Starclan and how much she cared for her clan. Bellpaw realied that she has never had a closer friend than Amberpaw well at least before her brother died.

She suddenly felt a tingle run through her. She jumped and looked all aroun her. What was that! she just saw something behind Amberpaw. Bellpaw coulden't control herself and ran after whatever she saw. She parealized that there was a gathering she picked a splinter out of her paw and ran back to Amberpaw. Gathering!

Amberpaw's eyes widened and she bounded towards the mouse she had burried, digging it up with ease. "We need to get back to the camp right away!," She meowed to Bellpaw as she swearved through the forest, the mouse in her jaws. "Sapphirestrar will want to see us!"
