Stormpaw walked up to the waters of Moonpool alone. It is finally time for me to become a medicine cat and receive my name. She told herself confidently. She slowly made her way over to the water and took a deep breath. Nothing to fear, Stormpaw. Nothing to fear. She kept telling herself. Finally she calmed herself and layed down next to the pool and touched her nose to the edge of the water and drifted off to a deep sleep.
Stormpaw woke up and looked around. She was in the starry grounds of StarClan. She looked around and marveled at everything, just like she had on her first trip. Though, this time. It was even more important and special. She sat down on the ground and looked around waiting for Dreamstar to come so she could receive her medicine cat name. Tingling shivers went down her spine. Calm yourself. You don't want to look like an over excited kit in front of the leader of StarClan, do you?

"Don't look so tense. Today is supposed to be a gracious day- full of surprises." Dreamstar's sweet, bell-like voice chimed into the clearing, soon followed by a small, silver figure. The silver she-cat's paws barely touched the ground as she came forward out of what seemed like nothing. Her poise had an ominous look to it as she took her place a couple fox lengths away from the agitated apprentice. A smile curled at the corner of her mouth as she watched Stormpaw for a moment. How far she has to go. The thought was as comforting as it was full of curiosity.
"However, today is also the passing of a medicine cat that joined us all to soon. So, today is full of things to feel." Her tone was very mother like, despite how she talked in riddles. She turned her sapphire gaze to the she-cat, tilting her head slightly. "Is it anything like you expected?" Every apprentice had ideas of what their ceremony would be; Dreamstar wondered if this was exactly what Stormpaw had expected or not.

"Don't look so tense. Today is supposed to be a gracious day- full of surprises." Dreamstar meowed, smiling. Her bell-like voice chimmed around the clearing. "However, today is also the passing of a medicine cat that joined us all to soon. So, today is full of things to feel." She was talking in riddles, but her tone was mother-like. "Is it anything like you expected?" Dreamstar asked.
Stormpaw looked around the clearing once more, then back to Dreamstar. "Actually, it is nothing like I had once imagined." She spoke honestly. Then her eye's started to shimmer from her exicitment and joy of finally becoming a medicine cat. "It is much more then I could have thought of. I knew I would be exicited, but it's still so different then what I had immagined." She smiled at Dreamstar. "Everything is just, so... Amazing."

The silver she-cat chuckled slightly. "We tend to do that to cats." But however much she wanted to be light and funny now, Dreamstar knew that this was hardly the time. Her sapphire eyes flickered to the apprentice, her face growing slightly more serious. "This isn't an easy path, you know," She warned, the tone of her voice marred with warnings. "You can never have a mate, or kits. Some cats will die, and you must learn that you can't save them all- something that even experienced medicine cats still struggle with." Death is something no one could ever get used to; but, it was something the apprentice would need to learn to cope with if she was going to become a medicine cat.
Dreamstar got to her paws and padded up to Stormpaw, her sapphire eyes boring into hers. "There are so many things that medicine cats do not think about when they sign up for this position. You need to make the decision now if it's really worth it." So many cats had wasted their lives doing something they wished they could take back; the silver she-cat didn't want this one, who seemed to have so much potential, end up like them.

The silver she-cat chuckled slightly. "We tend to do that to cats." Her face grew more serious as she moved on to the true meaning of Stormpaw being here. "This isn't an easy path, you know," She warned. "You can never have a mate, or kits. Stormpaw looked into Dreamstar's glowing sapphire eyes while Dreamstar explained everything to her. No mates. No kits. Death that would be her fault and she could do nothing about. She thought of how hard everything would be. Lives will be gone because of me, one day. I will never have a mate or kits, either. Life like this will be very difficult, just like she says. But that doesn't matter to me. She shook her head. I am determined do be a medicine cat that helps everyone possible. One that tries to save every cat possible and accept it when I did something wrong. Stormpaw's eyes glowed brightly as her thoughts made her even more determined.
Stormpaw looked back at Dreamstar. "I am sure. This is the life I want, and I wouldn't trade it for the world." She meowed confidently. Nothing is going to stop me from becoming the best medicine cat I can be. Nothing. She looked Dreamstar straight in the eyes, trying to show the starry leader of StarClan, that she was ready to give all of these things. To show her she was ready to accept the responsibilities or everything that was her fault. There may be deaths along the way. But without a medicine cat, how many more cats would die of simple sicknesses that could have been cured easily?

A twinkle lit up the Dreamstar's sapphire eyes. Of coarse you do. A small breeze ruffled past them in the starry field, making the air more intense then it had been moments ago "Then that's all I need to know." With a small smile on her face, the silver she-cat took a couple steps back. "I, Dreamstar, call upon the rest of my warrior ancestors." The grey she-cat turned her head up to the stars, her sapphire eyes taking on a powerful gaze- one that showed just how much power the she-cat really held. "This apprentice has been trained well to understand the medicine cat's noble code and I commend her to you as a medicine cat in her turn." Her gaze turned from the stars above her back down to the apprentice, already knowing what the answer to her next question. "Stormpaw, do you promise to uphold that code, to protect and heal your clan, even at the cost of your life?"

Stormpaw gazed up at Dreamstar, her eyes shining brightly. This is my future. Being the best medicine cat possible. May I make StarClan proud one day. She thought. "I do." She meowed confidently. She had heard so many other apprentice's say it to become a warrior. It was finally her turn. Even though I have seen it millions of times, I never knew it could feel so powerful. She smiled and looked up at he starry silver she-cat.

A small chuckle rumbled within the she-cat's chest. "Of coarse you do," She remarked, giving the apprentice a sly wink. Recomposing herself, Dreamstar turned her head back up to the stars. "Then, by the powers of Starclan, I give you your true medicine cat name. Stormpaw, from this moment on, you will be known as Stormfrost." She smiled down at the newly appointed medicine cat, her thoughts appraising how she thought Stormfrost would handle her job. She will be the one to struggle with the death. You can already see it on her face. A short wave of pity whelled up in the she-cat, but it slowly faded into the background of her mind.
The grey she-cat shook her head and smiled again, her attention focusing on Stormfrost again. "Starclan Honors you, and we welcome you as the new RiverClan medicine cat." She nodded respectfully to the she-cat, her sapphire eyes growing somewhat joyful.

She nodded respectfully to Stormfrost, Dreamstar's sapphire eyes growing with what seemed to be joy.
Stormfrost's green eyes shimmered when Dreamstar had appointed her as the new medicine cat of RiverClan. Joy, excitement, and feelings of pride welded in her chest. She felt as if she could run through all of the clans territory and back and still not be tired. She smiled at Dreamstar and dipped her head. "Thank you, Dreamstar. I promise that I will do everything in my power, with the help of StarClan, to help and heal all injured cats." Stormfrost vowed. She looked back at Dreamstar, determination glowing in her eyes.

Now that the ceremony had ended, Dreamstar's gaze fell upon the she-cat's face. Her face finally seemed to look like a StarClan cat's- ominous, worried, and slightly haunted. It was like she had aged 100 moons in the span of a couple minutes. "I hope you do," The she-cat replied, her tone hinting at a deeper meaning. "For your true loyalty, patients, and dedication to your clan is going to be tested very shortly."
The stars above them darkened, almost to the point where you could barely see them at all. A sign- one Dreamstar hoped the new medicine cat would understand. Getting to her paws, she padded closer to where Stormfrost sat, her sapphire eyes trying to get across the importance of what she was saying. "Trust me when I say this position is not for the faint hearted."
