[Amberpaw]

Amberpaw laid on the softy ground by the edge of the stream, her topaz eyes strained. She felt lightheaded...and her breaths seemed to come short of the air that she needed. The black and white apprentice hid her expression behind a wide grin as she watched her friend, Bellpaw. She wanted to come out here and help the medicine cat apprentice look for herbs. The effort it took to do that, however, was putting to much strain on her body; so she had to lay down for a bit. Instead, she settled on watching and listening to Bellpaw.

Bellpaw opened her mouth and took in the scents around her. She had found some tansy and sorrel. But no dock yet. Amberpaw had lied down seeming a little tired. Bellpaw walked up to her dropping her herbs next to her. "We could go back to camp if you'd like?" she said to the black and white apprentice.

Amberpaw's topaz eyes widened as she shook her head fiercely. "No way!," She replied, trying to keep her disappointment in herself out of her tone. "I'm fine!" The apprentice wanted nothing more than to sit here, outside, with Bellpaw right now. The medicine cat's den was starting to give her claustrophobia. "Really," She meowed, looking up at Bellpaw with a smile. "I just need to rest for a couple minutes." Stupid badgers... She thought, bitting back a few sharp words.

Amberpaw looked up at the sky and smiled. It was a clear, green leaf day. Almost sun high...but not quiet. "Nice day though," She smiled, letting out a thankful sigh. "Not to hot...but not raining."

Bellpaw purred "Ok then." and continued on with her herb gathering. "Yes very nice day." she said not really paying attention. She had spotted some dock a little way off and wondered why she hadn't smelt earlier. As she got closer to them and smelt something nasty. "Yuck!" she snorted in a voice she normaly dosen't use. So thats why I didn't scent it earlier. When she just about reached the dock she felt something sticky on her paws. She looked down and saw some black liquid puddle and she was standing right in the middle. "Grr." she said and stepped out shaking her paws. She stench seemed to stick to her. "Gross!" she hissed "It'll take weeks before the stench comes off!" she sighed. "Better get back to camp and wash it off." she said in her normal soothing tone again. She knew that she could just was it off in the moonstream but that would toxicate it and the Moonpool and that woulden't make Starclan happy. It would trouble the medicine cats when they had to lap up the water to dream and well you get the point.

The small apprentice's head snapped over to Bellpaw began making weird sounds. "You ok?," She asked, getting to her paws carefully. Amberpaw's topaz eyes narrowed as she came near the medicine cat apprentice, her nose crinkling at the sudden smell that wafted in the air. "Ugh!," She hissed, backing up away from the smell. "What is that?!" She paused for a moment, her mind shifting back to previous days. When she had been a kit, she remembered sitting in the elders den and listening to their stories. Amberpaw had heard about the black, shiny liquid that smelled before..."That comes from those twolegs things..." She murmured, her topaz eyes shooting up to meet Bellpaw's blue eyes. "I remember hearing about it before."

Bellpaw walked next to Amberpaw on the journey back to camp. "Yeah. I have too." and from what she had heard it wasn't good stories. But she stopped and scraped some moss off a nearby tree wrapping it around her paws. "That should stop it from tracking all over camp."

Amberpaw nodded, since she was about to object about Bellpaw's paws being covered in goo. She let out a small sigh of relief as she padded after the medicine cat apprentice. At least I don't have to wrap my paws... She was already clumsy enough without having to limp across the forest to camp.
