Bored ((Twilightstar/Bushtail/open))

A black and white pelt that was clouded by the dust that was blow in with the wind worked tireslly moving and removing herbs. The black and white pelt known only as Solsticeflight was preparing herbs for those who would need them. Solsticeflight was worried mainly about the Shadowclan queen, Bushtail. The beautiful queen had worked hard in the battle agianst the badgers and had not long ago announced her pregnancy. in which Solsticeflight had already guessed. He silently wished he knew who the father was but that was not his concern. Solsticeflight scrapped the cob webs that clung to his paws stubbornly into a pile and put them in the back of his den. Solsticeflight had a small hollow log as a den. It was plenty big and he even had room in the back for two nest, one in which he slept and one in which his hopefully soon apprentice would sleep. Solsticeflight stocked the last of his herbs in the small shelves that the medicine cat before him had made. Solsticeflight then shouldered his way through the fern of the entrance to his den and came into a small clearing with some sand in the middle where some noisy kit's played. He then padded over to a pool behind his den where four nests lay. The nests were used to shelter the sickly cat. He drank some of the water and then padded over to the clearing. The entrance of his den smelled like hebs and mouse bile. Solsticeflight let out a mrrrrr of amusement at how the kit's would wrinkle their noses and flee from it's smell. Solsticeflight gratefully picked up the prey that some apprentice had left him and began to munch on it. He then wished that he wasn't so lonely. As an apprentice he had hated the thought of becoming a medicine cat, because no one came to talk to you or you just sat in there all alone. Solsticeflight let out a sigh.

Three dawns had passed. Yes, it had been three dawns since the leader had slept. Hearing a sigh that was simontanious to hers, Twilightstar stood up and pinpointed the location of where in was coming from. The medicine cat's den. She slowly padded into it, each step felt as if she were dragging a boulder along with her. When Twilightstar finally reached Solticeflight's den, she saw the medicine cat himself just sitting there. "Hello Solticeflight, is everything alright?" Twilightstar mewed wearly, trying to hide the fact that she was greatly troubled. Solticeflight had quite enough to worry about then her stupid insomnia. There was Bushtail, who was expecting any day now, Twilightstar was worried about her too. It felt as if the young leader held the world on her shoulders. The worse part was that Twilightstar was expected to look strong, be strong, and not act like she had needs too, the Clan needed her. But right now, she needed her Clan more than they her.

Solsticeflight looked up for a breif second searching for an answer in her beautiful icey blue gaze, but nothing came to him and Solsticeflight just looked at the ground. For a couple of minutes there was silence and then the medicine cat spoke up. "I judt feel like I can't do anything to help the clan, watching them suffer is like ripping my heart out bit by bit. I love this clan and warrior or not I will defend it will all I have. But I just wish that I or at least Starclan could stop it"Solsticeflight admited tenderly. His heart was pounding and he slowly breathed in and out. Finally he got control of him self and then stared once agian at the ground. Solsticeflight knew that wasn't the whole truth, he wanted a mate for himself. But, he also didn't want to disobey the warrior code. He wanted somone to love, but he couldn't unless the warrior code was broken.

<sub>Twilightstar held his gaze for a moment, it seemed like her's magnetically pulled his. The icey-blue depths had no end, and held unmistakable secrets. After Solsticeflight spoke, she closed her eyes, thinking for a moment on what to say. Twilightstar just wanted to spill everything out to him, but they were her problems, and he had his own. The leader let out a long sigh, "Solsticeflight..." Her voice cracked from exhaustion. "You're doing everything you can do, and you could do nothing more. The Clan, we will survive, we always do. Are you sure it isn't you who is feeling desperate?" Twilightstar was glad to share her wisdom with him when he needed it, he always helped her when she needed it. After a moment, the ShadowClanner could tell he wasn't telling the whole truth, she felt he was missing or wanting something that he couldn't have. She just couldn't put her finger on it, though. "Sometimes I feel the same way." Twilightstar decided to really open up to her medicine cat, "I've had to give up things a wanted before." Her mew was quiet and soft, almost sad. Twilightstar felt that would somehow help the tom. Her heart throbbed and Twilightstar's eyes rolled back in her head for a moment before her legs started to give way. Twilightstar struggled to stand, but regained her balance after flailing like a helpless kit. What's happening to me?? Twilightstar screamed in her head. I have to be strong for the sake of the Clan!

Solsticeflight forgot his own troubles there for a moment and desided to change the subject

since Twilightstar was getting to close to his emotion. But, when Twilight began to fall, he l

unged forward and grabbed her scruff. Then he slowly and gentley carried her over to the

nests by the pool. Slowly he layed her down in the biggest nest. It had brambles branching

over it that would provide shelter for Twilightstar. Quickly he padded over to the pool and

grabbed some moss, then he soaked the moss in the water and placed it next to Twilightstar.

"Twilightstar you must get some rest but first you must tell me if anything is

hurting"Solsticeflight hissed and then he rushed into his den and returned with some poppy

seeds,. "These will help you rest"Solsticeflight meowed and he pushed them towards

Twilightstar.[/color]

The leader was barely aware of Solsticeflight carrying her to a nest. She closed her eyes and saw blackness, endless blackness. Her heart felt heavy, literally, heavy. Twilightstar's only instint was to get up and try to keep going. She wobbly turned her body so it was in a sitting position. "The Clan..." Her voice faltered and it took effort to even speak. "I..feel...weak...my....lungs....feel-heavy." She whispered slowly, taking a short breath after each word. Each breath it became harder to breath, and Twilightstar thought back to what she had done that day. Her thoughts stopped as she remembered washing her paws. That odd liquid on them! "Poison.." Twilightstar could feel herself convuling, and lapped some water from the moss Solsticeflight had gotten her. She licked up a few poppyseeds, and felt her eyelids drooping. "Spottedfire in charge." She mewed feebly though sleep would not overcome her. Twilightstar's mind was waiting for an answer for the medicine cat.

"Quit worrying about the clan Spottedfire can deal with that"Solsticeflight yowed in

annoyance. Then he quickly rushed into his den and grabbed some coltsfoot, for shortness of

breath and some juniper nerries that would help her breath. Then he ran out of the den

snagging his pelt on a bramble. Solsticeflight flinched but then instantly dropped the leaves.

He quickly began to chew the coltsfoot into a puulp. Once he was done he pushed the pulp in

front of Twilightstar and then dropped the juniper berries with it. He then padded into his den

tirelessly and grabbed some dock and cobwebs. He gentley cleaned his wound and placed

the dock on it and then covered it with cobwebs. Then Solsticeflight padded over to the pool

and lapped it's cold water. Droplets still clinging to his whiskers.[/color]

Silence. "Ok...Solsti..." Twilightstar choked, struggling to breath. She watched as he left, and then came back with some mixture of herbs. She slowly gulped them down, then noticed he was bleeding. Feeling a bit stronger now, Twilightstar murmured, "You're bleeding." The tip of her tail swept across a scratch on his glossy pelt. She removed it, and gazed at him with a look of deep friendship in her eyes. It followed him until Twilightstar noticed the Juniper Berries. She lapped them up and felt her eyes drooping. Slowly, Twilightstar fell asleep, and before long, she was in a deep sleep.

She came in to see how Solsticeflight was getting along after the past medicine cat joined the ranks of StarClan. As she made her way into the den, she saw Solsticflight standing over TwilightStar. She rushed over to them and meowed worridly," What's happened?" She was worried about her leader and hoped she wasn't about to lose another life. She hoped she could be of any help to help her leader.

Solsticeflight slowly turned his head around and noticed Spottedfire. "Twilightstar got into

some poison,"Solsticeflight hissed and then turned back to Twilightstar. When he saw the

emotion in his leaders eyes he knew he couldn't let her lose a life. Slowly he groomed her fur

waiting and hoping the medicine was working. A tear slid down his muzzle at the thought of

loosing his dear friend crossed his mind. He soaked the water in her fur and padded into his

den. When he had returned he was holding a small bush with flowers that looked like

daisies. Then he set the feverfew in front of Twilightstar. He would make sure she ate it when

she woke up. Then he turned to Spottedfire, " need anything, if not then you could possibly

go out and try to locate this pool of poison, eh"Solsticeflight hissed. He was usually only nice

to Twilightstar. He hated company, which showed his Shadowclan traits. He only had feelings

for those in care or kits and queens.

"Poison? Dear StarClan, not now," she meowed while letting out a faint sob. She looked at her leader, and could tell she was suffering. "Oh yea, I will. I don't want anymore cats getting hurt. These are hard times right now, and we can't afford any more cats getting weak," she hissed. Then she took once last look at Twilightstar, and padded out of the den.

flight regretted being mean to her but right at the moment his nerves were way up.

He silently sat beside Twilightstar and pressed his muzzle into her fur. He silently sat there as

if he was mourning her. Solsticeflight then looked up at the canopy that was not really

allowing sunlight down through the forest. He let out a silent prayer to Starclan.

She raced into Solsticflights den, eager to tell the medicine cat and her leader the news she found out. "Hey! I've found the poison, and we covered it with thorns to tell cats to stay away," she meowed. She looked around for Foxpaw. "It was this greenish blue stuff, and it smelled like rotton prey. Foxpaw had the idea to cover it with thorns." She looked at her apprentice with glory in her eyes.

Foxpaw felt warm with pride and he held his head up high. The he glared at his leader sadly. Foxpaw padded up to his leader and gentely licked her pelt. Then he nuzzled her and padded back to his mentor's side.



Solsticeflight was glad to see that the deputy had found the poison. "I am sorry for the way I acted godd job,"Solsticeflight meowed. Then he padded into his den and fixed the mess stacks. He placed them neatly in piles and then he made more shelves for more herbs that new leaf brought.

Bushtail padded into Solsticeflights den. Her tail was dragging on the ground. Then she looked up. "What happened." she said in a croaky voice. What had seemed like aa bellyache a secind ago had turned worse on Bushtail and she hoped it wasn't effecting her kits. But right now she was more worried about her leader. ((Blechy))
